Valentino - Spring 2011 collection

" While the rest of the world seems to linger, wandering along Place Vendôme, window shopping and whiling away the afternoon, up in the grand Valentino atelier, Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo Piccioli are hard at work. Putting together their fourth ready-to-wear collection for the house, they’re going for a look that plays to both Valentino’s past and its future.
That means ruffles and ladylike lace, but also blush-colored heels with a chain ankle-strap and bags decked out with macro-studs that are “dangerous but pretty,” as Chiuri puts it. "

They find that working together pushes them to do their absolute best, even when they don’t agree. Do they occasionally fight it out? “Of course we do!” Chiuri says, laughing. But, as Piccioli explains, that means big benefits in the long run. “It’s not important who wins,” he says. “The final result is always what’s best for the house.”
